Dorland Health is pleased to share with you all of the entries received from our 2nd annual Case Management Writing Contest. Congratulations to our winners and to everyone else who participated in this event.

The theme of this year’s contest was to describe your proudest moment as a case manager. As you read each of the stories, you will see that the practice of case management is a caring practice that focuses on the patient in a holistic manner. The stories reveal the important role case managers play across the continuum of care in advocating, educating and empowering each patient with the goal of improving quality of life while working to improve clinical and financial outcomes.

Like this year’s winners who received one of four prizes — a free conference registration to the Case Management Society of America’s annual conference and expo in Orlando, Fla.; a complete set of the Case Management Resource Guide; free continuing education credits from Case in Point magazine for one year; or a one-year individual membership to the Case Management Society of America — your submission to next year’s contest could be selected! So put on your thinking cap, sharpen your pencil, and watch for details about the 3rd annual Writing Contest from Dorland Health.

Until then, enjoy these stories — and keep them coming. Sharing our successes by articulating the lessons we learn helps secure case management’s role as an essential part of any healthcare team. Send your “Lessons Learned” to Editor in Chief Anne Llewellyn at allewellyn@contexomedia.com for a chance to be published in Case in Point and to improve the practice of case management.
