Former Business Owner Carrie Marion Talks about Entrepreneurship

“People who start businesses have to recognize their strengths and they have to recognize their weaknesses. They have to take a long hard look at themselves.”

Introduction:
Carrie Marion was the third president of the Case Management Society of America and one of the original five professionals who were responsible for founding the Case Management Society of America. Carrie led the Board of Directors of CMSA during a time when Officers and Board Members were responsible for their own travel to Board Meetings and Conferences. This dedication defined the true meaning of volunteerism and showed the commitment of those involved to growing the practice.

Carrie brings a rich history of clinical expertise to the practice, which included the areas of neonatal intensive care, pediatric oncology, and bone marrow transplant. In addition to her activities with CMSA, Carrie assisted in the development of the Certified Case Manager credential and has served as the Chair of the Commission overseeing the process, both as the first chair, then again more recently. She has served on numerous committees and in many capacities on the Commission for more than 10 years.

Carrie founded her company, EnvisionCare, an independent case management company that provided medical case management services in all areas of medical and psychiatric specializations. A few years ago, she was approached by United Resource Network, as they were interested in expanding their case management capabilities. Carrie sold her company at that time and remains involved in the organization as Vice President of Case Management Services.
