Introduction:
Connie Commander is owner and president of Commander’s Premier Consulting Corp., whose focus is for the advancement of case management and medical management in today’s healthcare environment. Her previous experience has involved health plans, physician networks and facility-based departments, located in Texas and Illinois. Prior to moving to independent practice, Ms. Commander held numerous management positions focused on the implementation and merging of CM, UM, DM and risk management. She currently educates case managers across multiple settings to help them develop and implement a collaborative practice of case management throughout all healthcare-delivery venues. Connie views collaborative models, integrated healthcare delivery systems and effective transitions of care as the critical components for care coordination in today’s healthcare delivery system.
Leadership Interview: At the time of the leadership interview, Connie was completing her term as the national president of the Case Management Society of America. She talked candidly about the experience and shared her view of the practice from the encounters she experienced in that role.
