Introduction:
Marlys brings more than 20 years of experience to the practice of case management. Today, she is president and CEO of SCM Associates Inc., a boutique case management company specializing in catastrophic case management and credentialing services to many private and public health insurers.
Marlys holds the honor of being the first recipient the Case Management Society of America’s Case Manager of the Year Award, a tradition that started in 1992 and continues today. Marlys is a published author and a frequent lecturer on managed care, outcomes and case management.
Personally, Marlys enjoys her down time with her family and is active in her community performing various service projects to those in need.
Leadership Interview: Marlys has had the unique experience of returning to the field of case management due to a surge in business. This experience has provided an inside look of the difficult yet rewarding role field case managers perform in managing catastrophic patients. She shares some of the tips and lessons learned in a hope to let other case managers know it is important to take care of staff and to recognize the difficult road they walk each day.
