Mindy Owen Speaks about Case Management and the Importance of Certification

Introduction:
Mindy Owen was the second president of the Case Management Society of America. Mindy brought a rich history of clinical and managerial expertise to the practice of case management. Mindy holds the distinction of being one of the original five visionary women who were the founders of the CMSA. In addition, Mindy was instrumental in working with the Foundation for Rehabilitation Education and Research in developing the case management certification concept, which laid the groundwork for professionals to validate their expertise in a concrete manner.
Currently, Mindy is the Principal of Phoenix Healthcare Associates, LLC, where she provides consulting services specializing in education and development of case management and disease state management programs.
Leadership Interview: Mindy contributed to the Leadership Interview by providing listeners with an inside view of the inner workings of the Commission for Case Manager Certification. She explains the role the Commission takes to ensure a high standard of credibility, as well as the impact that the certification has on the practice. Mindy explains to listeners the numerous opportunities for certified case managers to interact with the Commission and encourages certified case managers to get involved. Mindy talks about the latest project that the Commission has rolled out a Grant Program for those who want to do research on the practice.
