CONTENT:
Case in Point publishes articles that provide practical advice pertaining to the field of case management. Case in Point welcomes topic suggestions that include patient or professional profiles. The mission of Case in Point is to understand the professional and personal needs of case managers, and deliver to them the resources they need to provide safe, cost-effective, quality care,
and the tools they need to improve their practice, their careers and their lives.
AUDIENCE:
The majority of case managers — 96 percent — are women, and the majority of them have more than 20 years of clinical experience. In addition to being healthcare professionals who coordinate patient care throughout the full continuum of care, case managers are:
- patient advocates, communicating patient health and human service needs to the care management team,
- dedicated and respected practitioners with 62 percent in clinical practice for more than 20 years,
- resource managers, recommending alternative options, products, facilities and services, and
- activists, always seeking quality and cost-effective outcomes for their patients.
TONE & STYLE:
Copy should be informative, educational and professional, but with a lighter tone than that found in academic journals. Copy should always be fair and balanced and never read like an advertisement. Please write in the active voice and avoid the passive voice (i.e. avoid heavy use of to-be verbs, like was, were, are, is, been). Headlines should be direct and brief — readers should be able to glean the topic benefit of your article by reading just the headline. Include frequent paragraphing, subheads and, when appropriate, bullets. Also include callouts and/or sidebar copy when appropriate. Articles should be written with a word count between 1200-2000 words. More specific information regarding length of articles will be provided during discussion with the Editor in Chief, but, in general, the following word counts will prevail:
Department: 1200-1500
Feature Article: 1500-1800
Cover Story: 2000
DOCUMENTATION: Biographical credentials (RN, CCM, PhD, etc.) and sources should be referenced accordingly throughout copy. Please maintain proper research documentation to verify the facts upon request for up to six months following copy submission. Please DO NOT copy and paste material from the Internet or other sources. All contributed articles should include a byline with name and credentials and brief biography, including name, credentials, title, related affiliations, a brief explanation of expertise on the article topic or on the field of case management itself and a call to action, such as an email address or phone number.

PHOTOS and ARTWORK:
If you wish to submit suggested artwork, photos or charts, TIFF, EPS, JPG, or PDF formats are recommended.
